    Sara Burkes

    What is Mrs. Burkes’ background?

    Mrs. Burkes was born and raised in Texas. She graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas, with a degree in Social Work and a minor in English. She started her teaching career as a kindergarten assistant and has 15 years’ experience teaching PreK – 3rd grade.


    About Mrs. Burkes’   family

    Mrs. Burkes has been married to her husband, Andrew, since July 4, 2009. They live with their two dogs and visit regularly with their brothers and sister, nieces and nephews.


    What was one of Mrs. Burkes’ funniest moments teaching:

    Celebrating our end of year accomplishments with confetti eggs. The kids were so excited to smash eggs on the top of my head!


    What does Mrs. Burkes’ love about teaching?

    Mrs. Burkes love seeing the confidence that a child gets when they accomplish a goal or learn a skill they didn’t have before.


    What was Mrs. Burkes’ like in K-8 grade?

    Mrs. Burkes was a little bit dorky. She had terrible handwriting. She was always worried that her bangs weren’t tall or wavy enough.
