My grading policy includes checking homework daily. Your children will receive a check or a zero strictly on effort. Each zero deducts three points from their homework grade at the end of the quarter. I give lots of quizzes and several unit tests a quarter. All quizzes and tests are announced. Each quiz grade counts once and each test and homework grade counts twice. The most important part of class is when we go over homework. Your child is responsible for correcting his or her work. I will always answer questions until there are no more. I always return quizzes and tests the very next day.
Middle school math provides the skills and foundation needed for all future math classes. As a result, there will be a lot of drill and practice in these classes. I am always willing to work extra with your child in the mornings from 7:30 to 8:00. An extra 10 or 15 minutes goes a long way. Please feel free to contact me at anytime if you have questions. My goal is to provide your children with needed skills, challenge them, and make them realize they CAN do math!
